Alaska
Since its inception the FCC Alaska Missions Team has participated in partnerships with individuals, churches, and organizations to help reach the Native people in our state.
The Alaska ministry is as diverse as the team that runs it. Here are a few apects of it.
- Arctic Barnabas Ministries
- Travel within Alaska would be nearly impossible without aircraft. Arctic Barnabas provides air transport for numerous missionaries and Christian workers around Alaska. FCC has assisted in the purchase of aircraft for this ministry, and uses their service to visit villages around the state.
- Alaska Christian College
- FCC provides support to Alaska Christian College, which caters to native youth desiring a college education in a rural set
ting. Based near Soldotna, Alaska, the college provides an informal learning environment designed specifically with native peoples in mind.
- Alaska Medical Missions
- This ministry exists to provide medical supplies to short term mission teams traveling to various countries, and to provide emergency supplies to ministries in foreign countries. Many of our short-term teams receive supplies from this ministry that are then distributed in a host country.
- Native Ministries
- FCC is involved in the ministry of Roger and Carole Huntington of Galena, Alaska. Roger is an Athabaskan native, and has a heart for the native peoples of Alaska. The Huntingtons are involved in Kokrine Hills Bible Camp, in the Yukon River drainage. The camp provides opportunities for native youth to hear the gospel in a Christian camp setting.
- Transformational Living Community
- This prison ministry is modeled after a similar, very successful effort in Arizona. Its primary purpose is to introduce inmates to faith in Jesus Christ, and to assist them in breaking away from habits that have led them to criminal activity.
