She Needs A Best Friend: A Testimony from East Bethel

September 2007

Ida, a 31 years old woman, is a mother of a son who is in the 4th grade of primary school. She lives in Bethel but her son lives with her mother in a village far from Bethel. I knew her through a program of Cinta Baca when we were looking for the children who need scholarship. Since Ida planned to bring her son lives with her in Bethel, she asked us to list her son to be one of the children who would get the scholarship. But, unexpectedly her husband abandoned her and married to another women without giving her any financial support. She feels lonely and lost. She finds it is hard to fulfill her own daily needs day by day that she decided to leave her son with her mother until she gets a job. That means she has to be patient for missing her son until she can earn a living for them. I thank God because Ida was openly tell her life and pour her heart to me even after I told her about Isa Almasih. Thus, God bring me closer to her.

On the next meeting I told her about the Samaritan women whom Jesus met at a well. I told her that Isa Almasih is the Living Water, if we drink the water from a well we will be thirsty again, but if we drink from the Source of the Living Water that is Isa Almasih we will never be thirsty anymore. And I told her also that when we have a problem and can’t see the way out we could find the way in Him.

Furthermore, I continue to visit her and try to look for a job for her. I want to show her that I care for her and I can be a friend of her. One night she sent me a short message telling me that she has regarded me as a friend who can be a place to pour her heart. Indeed, she really needs a friend and even more, a best friend. Praise His name.

Prayers Point:

  1. Pray for Ida to see God’s love so that she will put her hope to Christ and trust Him as her best friend.
  2. Pray that God will provide a job for her in Bethel.
  3. Pray that God will take care of my relationship with her.
