Report about the work done in August 2007

Revival church, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk
The main plans for the August were the following:
- To have the Christian camp for the children.
- To have congregation meeting.
- To prepare for the outreach in the street – September 9th.
- To continue to work on the putting church building into operation.
August is the last month of the summer and the last time when the Christians together can go outside.
And Lord has blessed everything that was planned in a different way.
- Christian camp took place from August 1st till August 11th. It went well in spite of the weather. The first two days they had to stay in the church building as there was a strong typhoon; and at the same time there was an earthquake 100 km from the place where the camp was located. The earthquake was strong many houses were destroyed.It was very noisy and loudly on the 1st and 2nd of August in the church. There was enough room for everyone to stay overnights. They even used my church office for the staff camp to stay overnight there.
On August 3rd they went to the place where the camp located. A lot of people from the church were working in the camp. The rest of the believers supported the camp by the prayer. I didn’t manage to visit the camp this year as for the period from August 5th till August 10th I was sick: I had high temperature up to 40 sore throat. Many of the believers also had the same symptoms.
My son and daughter served in the camp as mentor assistants. It was a good event for us. They say it was difficult for them, they were tired but it was interesting for them.
- On August 26th we had a congregation meeting. We discussed several important questions as well as the targets of the church.
There are the three following targets of the church:To organize all the ministries in the church.To extend the ministry of the church – to pay more attention to the outreach and to work with the unbelievers more. Brother Aleksander Zimin will be in charge of this work. He is a member of our church for a long time. He is married for 4 years already. He has graduated from several Christian colleges. This year he has the main target of his ministry is youth, students and other unbelievers. Please pray especially for him so that he has an opportunity to work (share the Gospel) in the colleges and universities of the city.
- September 9th was the city celebration (B-Day of the city) – our city turned 125 years. The officials of the city prepared the special entertainment program for the citizens. We as a church decided to make use of this event and use it in the purpose of sharing the Gospel.It’s a pity but we were allowed to have an outreach only in one place – city park. We asked the officials to let us have an outreach in the main street of the city, but…… they didn’t allow us to do that.
Our goal was – the whole church should go out to the park. On that day there were lots of people, we greeted citizens with the city day on behalf of our church, and we provided some food and shared the Gospel. Next month I’ll inform you how it went. But for now I can say that we were well prepared and God provided a good weather and outreach went well. Please pray so that God put the seed in the hearts of the people to come and study the Bible (we have Bible study on Mondays) and so that these people started to attend the church.
- In August we got an official paper from the officials that our church building meets the requirements of sanitary standards and we are allowed to put the church into operation. Praise the Lord. We need to get 3 more permission - documents like this from other official services and finally the other document from the city administration based on the previously received documents. We have to pay for all the documents and the pay is really high. Please pray so that God helped us in all these questions, so that we were able to get all the permissions that we need, so we had the funds we need to pay for the permissions. We need to have $4000.
- The weather this year is worse than last year. Lots of rain, earthquake in August, the water in the sea was cold, but in spite of this the believers had nice rest out at the nature. My family and other families went to the nature to rest – there was fresh air, rest and good fellowship.
- AS for my family, I continue to fix the apartment. We renew the bathroom and the room where our daughter lives. It’s a big work for us, but it’s necessary. We need to remodel bath tab, sink, toilet, install new pipes, put stone tile, and install new doors. I hope God will provide energy, time and finances to do all that work.
The main plans for September – October 2007:
- Outreach: September 9th and other days.
- Extend the work with unbelievers – to search for the new opportunities and resources.
- Continue to improve the ministries in the church.
- Continue to put up the church building into operation.
- To have a Harvest celebration (Thanksgiving Day) on October 14th.
