Revival church, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

In July it was my territorial group turn to lead prayer meetings on Sunday’s mornings for one hour. At the same time I had to lead these prayer meetings covering one sister. We met (about 10 people) every Sunday from 8.30 till 9.30 and we prayed for the different needs of the church.

On 8th of July and on 29th of July we had church services for the Sunday school. Usually we have Sunday school for the kids but in summer we decided to change it a little bit and we had short church services. The church service included songs, prayer and preaching. The first preaching I preached was called – Who is the very important; the second – Where does God live. After the service children had tea and played games in the church yard. At the first service there were about 13 kids and the second time 20 kids.

On July 15th there was a congregation meeting where we discussed two main questions: my further ministry as a pastor of the church. According to the rules of our church we discuss this question every four years. According to the decision of the church I continue to be a pastor for the next four years.

The second question – we had to vote for the new elder’s board (deans and elders). Now this question is partially solved, the final decision will be made in fall. Please pray for this. It’s very significant question – as pastor and brothers from the elder’s board are the main team of the church who together with pastor carry responsibility for the life and ministry of the church.

Starting from the August 1st we had Christian camp for the children. That’s why in July a lot of time was spent for the team preparation and invite kids for the camp. To invite children turned out to be a difficult thing than we thought. But praise the Lord we gathered the number of kids we planned to gather.

In July we finally started the process of putting the church into operation. It turned out that it requires time and funds. It will take several months to make everything as the law requires. We prepare all the required documents, specialists from different companies should examine the building, we need to get passport of the church building, and we need to improve the area around the church. Praise the Lord that we have already started this process and if God allows we will be done soon. In July we have got the first document that says that our church building meets all the requirements of sanitary standards. We had to pay for this document 24000 roubles. It took a month to get this document. We will probably have to pay about 100000 roubles for the passport of the church. Half of it we have already paid the rest we will pay later. We pray so that Lord could provide us the finances we need. We have to pay more than we expected.

Also in July I preached in the church, shared the gospel to the unbelievers, and had personal meetings with the believers from the church.

In July we distributed to the mailboxes and to the people about 2000 booklets, where the Gospel is explained and there is a call for the people to study the God’s Word. This is the first step of the project «Planned Outreach of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk» that we want to start in the city this fall.  We want to distribute more than 60 000 of booklets so that each family of the city could get one booklet.
