Report from Vlad Rozhkov, Novo-Aleksandrovka, Sakhalin Island, Russia
We greet you dear brothers and sisters!
Vladlen Rozhkov from Sakhalin writes you. The month of May is done and the school year is over for our kids and for the students of the Bible school where I study. Due to the end of the school year I stopped my meetings with the children (5th and 6th grade) at school # 12. Now the children are on vacation, but before the vacation I regularly had meetings with them in May where we studied the Bible. Some of the children have a desire to go to the camp to continue our fellowship and have rest at the nature. I believe that God will let this ministry to be continued next school year 2007-2008.
Now I have busy time as I make the preparations for the summer Christian camp. Each week I have meetings with two groups of people who form the team for the camp.
Now we have found the place for the camp. It’s about 130 km from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. It’s on the seashore. There is indescribable beauty and it’s not spoiled by humans yet. Also there is wonderful black sand. I have never seen anything like this.
I am sure that Russian people to whom God gave financial things and power, should participate in the education of this next growing generation using the Biblical principles. Nowadays as ever the problem of drugs, smoking and alcohol abuse are so great among the children.
I believe in the development of our camp ministry and will do everything that God says for it’s development.
“Revival” church in Yuzho Sakhalinsk made a decision to offer 1000 rubles every month for the camp. “Hope” church in Korsakov also gave some money for the camp development. I see the interest and need in this ministry.
This year God has greatly blessed us with the wonderful team for the camp. We already have a good team of 23 people. And last year we had only 13 people on staff. For 2007 (starting from March) I have already educated 14 new members of our team that will go to the Christian camp this summer.
Now we advertise our camp through Christians and schools.
I have made a gift for the class where my oldest daughter studied. This year she graduated from elementary school. I gave to every pupil in her class a CD with the video and pics for all 4 years at the elementary school and also I’ve added the video of our children and youth ministry together with the video of our Christian camp.
I would like to tell you about my church. We are doing well. We continue to meet in the apartment of one of the believers in Novo-Aleksandrovka. We have meetings on Sundays and during the week. But now because of the preparations for the camp the meetings during the week are not often. We have some unbelievers on Sunday services.
I work with the members of my church and encourage them to invite their relatives to their houses and share the gospel there, to invite them to drink tea and have fellowship or watch Christian movies. This all will help to build the relations with the unbelievers. One of the sisters is already building these relations with her friend. She constantly gives her Christian video and then they meet together and discuss what was shown in the movie or video program.
Also we see that one of our brothers (he is the husband of the sister who is the owner of the apartment where we meet for the church) he is getting worse and worse, he has brain disease. He doesn’t respond to the people around, he can’t read, his reaction is slow. We pray for him and God to give him relief.
I think after the camp we will start the ministry called from heart to heart. We have an opportunity to distribute the invitations to the mailboxes. In the invitations we will write that we want to meet with the people for the Bible study or send them a course for learning he Bible themselves.
Thank you for your support. It’s very significant for my family right now.
Good bye. God bless you!
